mtvU 2012 Woodies Nominees Announce + Plans For a Daylong SXSW Party

MTV’s collegiate spinoff mtvU have announced the 2012 Woodie Awards nominees along with plans to return to SXSW for a daylong festival before the March 18 award ceremony. Check out a full list of nominees after the jump.

The Woodie Awards recognizes the choices of college students across the country, and voting is now open for this year’s choices. Click here to cast your vote, and stay tuned for additional announcements about this year’s Woodie performances.

This year, Kanye West, Jay-Z, and The Black Keys lead the nomination field. The Black Keys have been nominated for Woodie of the Year alongside newcomers Foster the People, Frank Ocean, and others. The Keys will also go toe-to-toe with Kanye and Jay-Z for this year’s Performing Woodie.

The show will take place in Austin on March 18, the day of the SXSW music events kickoff. For more information on this year’s SXSW festivities, stay tuned to the festival’s official site.

For the majority who won’t be lucky enough to attend this year’s festival, highlights from the awards ceremony will be aired on March 18, 8pm ET on MTV and mtvU, though fans should have no trouble staying remotely informed with MTV, mtvU, and MTV.com kick off Woodie Awards Week on March 11.
