Just look at these guys. Part of you wants to hate them, but…admit it, part of you wonders where that smug in-your-face indie indifference comes from (and perhaps where you can glean some too). Santa Barbara-based Gardens & Villa is is the indie scene’s newest music darling and though yes, their utter hip-ness can be a bit intimidating, in the end it all comes down to the fact that this sunglass-donning, perfectly-coiffed fivesome is actually really, really good. I had the pleasure of seeing them in London when they were doing their European tour and I gotta say, it was worth every penny pound. Keep an eye on this band, I have a feeling they’re on the verge of something big.
Oh, and almost forgot: the point of this blog post is that they’re playing a FREE SHOW at UCLA Tuesday at noon. So for those of you UCLA-ers/USC kids with cars/adults without day jobs etc….you best be there. The magic flute beckons (trust me, you’ll understand if you go, or even give them a listen).
