Pulp Self Confirms Appearance at Both Weekends of Coachella Festival 2012

Just hours before the official lineup surfaced, Pulp self confirmed that they will be playing at Coachella 2012.  Since the band reunited in 2011, they have made no plans to cross the Atlantic to appease their American fanbase.  That was true until now.

This is the message that flashes across Pulp’s website in a wonderfully over-dramatic fashion:

You think you get off that lightly?  You think this is over?  There are so many questions left unanswered:  Can this feeling travel across the Atlantic?  Can we make the desert bloom?  Can we conquer our fears? And – most fundamentally: Why me? Why you?  Why here?  Why now?  2012: The year we get some answers.

Since Pulp disbanded in 2002, frontman Jarvis Cocker has been busy with a solo project, collaborations with bands like AIR, as well as producing tracks for big names like M.I.A. and Florence + the Machine.  For a while, it seemed that although Pulp may be dead, Cocker’s career certainly wasn’t.  Since their 2011 reunion, Pulp has proved that they are far from done, playing a host of shows in Europe and Australia including the Isle of Wight Festival, Reading and Leeds Festivals, Sziget Festival, Primavera Sound, the Exit Festival, and the Wireless Festival.  In this time of heightened activity, it seemed a shame that they made no plans to make it over to America.  Those who attend Coachella will have the good fortune of getting to see these British rock icons.

Pulp will be playing Friday, April 13 & 20 at Coachella.
