Anyone who has seen an Outback Steakhouse commercial has probably heard of Montreal, though their Outback rendition of “Wraith Pinned to the Mist (And Other Games)” shouldn’t be their claim to fame. Their ambitious upcoming album Paralytic Stalks, is due out February 7, 2012 via Polyvinyl Records.
Of Montreal has got you covered, no matter how you like to purchase your music. Come February 7, Paralytic Stalks will be made available via CD, 2xLP and all DSPs. They are even releasing 500 hand-numbered cassette versions of the album.
Impressively, Paralytic Stalks was written, performed, engineered, and produced by the band’s frontman, Kevin Barnes, at Sunlandic Studios in Athens, GA. In his interview with Rolling Stone, it was revealed that the lyrics will be much more personal on this album than anything of Montreal has previously released. For this album, Barnes worked with session musicians for the first time ever. By the time the recording process was finished one of these session musicians was officially added into the band.
