Before there were candy-colored ravers with dub-step fever, there was the reggae-influenced, raw reshaping of recordings: dub. Descending upon the music scene in 2004 and gaining attention with their 2006 collab with Mike Patton, Dub Trio is a dub/rock band that embraces the original dub master King Tubby‘s style while incorporating elements of rock, punk and heavy metal- even in their live performances. Trust us, it’s something you’ll have to see to believe- and lucky you, they’ve scheduled a stop in LA in November at the Echo. Check it out if you’re in the mood for some sweat-through-your-shirt, head-banging, “holy crap my mind is blown” manipulation of sound. And of course, bass- lots and lots of it.
