Thao and Mirah. Yes, they only go by their first names. Yes, they are actually cool enough do to so. Both are talented and experienced musicians in their own right (Mirah’s an indie songstress who’s been making waves since the late 90’s and Thao’s garnered tons of praise for her work with her band The Get Down Stay Down), but the combined forces of Thao’s brazen energy and Mirah’s soulful sweetness is at once unabashed and sincere- in a “I’m listening to two chicks sing a song called ‘Little Cup’ but I still feel hardcore” type of way.
