As announced on our main site, FYF Fest tickets are on sale today and this year’s line-up features the expected stellar roster of indie-rock heroes (i.e. Broken Social Scene, Explosions in the Sky, Smith Westerns) but also some names that may make you double-take (in a good way). Example: music scene veterans the Descendents, the Hermosa Beach-based punk rock band who FYF-founder Seth raves is “My favorite band since I was thirteen. The reason that this festival exists is their album, ‘Milo Goes to College’ and the affect it had on my life”, as well as Toronto-based dance-punk duo Death from Above 1979, who just recently re-banded in time to play at Coachella after a 5 year break up.
And for those of you worried about waiting 3+ hours in line surrounded by swirling dust, enveloped by waves of heat with only the faint strains of music from the bands playing inside the fence to keep you from simply keeling over into fetal position on the sidewalk and giving up all hope of ever entering the proverbial gates (ahem…why yes, I speak from personal experience why do you ask?): NOT TO WORRY! Learning from their mistakes last year, FYF is teaming up with Goldenvoice (the concert promotion masterminds behind Coachella and Stagecoach) and moving locations downtown to the streets surrounding City Hall, which hopefully will prove to be a bigger, better change. Promising, yes?
