Detroit, MI death metal outfit The Black Dahlia Murder recently announced that they will release their fifth full-length, Ritual, via Metal Blade Records on June 21.
Recorded earlier this year in Detroit with producer Mark Lewis, Ritual was reportedly recorded with the goal of creating an album that would sound more like the Black Dahlia Murder than their other albums.
“This is the first time we have fully realized a concept for an album. We wanted to choose something that would exemplify the very essence of the band… something that would be ‘more TBDM’ than anything we have released to this point. All of the lyrics to Ritual are bound by a common thread of black magick and the occult, the worship of darkness, and the preservation of inner strength and will,” said vocalist Trevor Strnad of the album.

In support of Ritual, the band will headline the Summer Slaughter Tour and embark on an extensive series of worldwide summer dates with the likes of Amon Amarth, Whitechapel, Six Feet Under, Darkets Hour and Dying Fetus.
