LA Radio Station Hosts Daft Punk Soundtrack Preview

Over the weekend, L.A.- based radio station KCRW hosted preview of Daft Punk’s soundtrack for Disney’s TRON: Legacy. The tracks debuted at the preview event included: “Solar Sailer,” “Recognizer,” “Adagio For TRON,” “Disc Wars” and “TRON Legacy (End Titles)”. The premiere will be available for on demand online streaming via KCRW.com starting Nov. 29, with a portion of the event slated for airing on KCRW’s signature show Morning Becomes Eclectic at 10 am P.S.T. the same day.

Director Joseph Kosinski and Music Supervisor Jason Bentley attended the preview and discussed working with Daft Punk. Kosinski first proposed the idea of scoring the film to Daft Punk three years ago. Bentley, who is also Music Director at KCRW, was an essential part of working with the first-time film composers, who had a 100 piece symphony at their disposal. It took a year before the masked French electronic duo got on board, but Kosinski had demos in his hands even before filming began. “It was clear to me that these guys were more than just dance music guys — and there was a lot going on behind those masks,” he said at the preview. Getting the duo to make a cameo in the film was a bit more difficult, Kosinski said, but ultimately they agreed to dress up as robots and appear as DJs in a nightclub scene (astounding).

The TRON: Legacy soundtrack is set for a Dec. 7 release. TRON hits theaters Dec. 17.
