Athens-based indie gods of Montreal have announced the Sept. 14 release date of their new album, False Priest. More after the jump. The new album promises to be a bit of a departure from previous efforts, with guest appearances from R&B singers Janelle Monae and Solange Knowles. It also features co-production from Jon Brion, a notable film composer and collaborator with such big names as Kanye West and Fiona Apple.
In a recent discussion with Pitchfork, Kevin Barnes said of the album: There’s a lot of very dancey, very funky songs… We try to have these ‘holy fuck’ moments where you’re really having your mind blown, especially if you’re listening to it on headphones.”
They have also put the first single from the album up for download here. The album can be pre-ordered here.
