Green Day’s Grammy award winning concept album is being brought to the stage with the help of Tony Award winning director Michael Mayer. The new show, surprisingly titled, American Idiot, will debut September 4 at the Berkeley Repertory Theatre in Berkeley, CA and will feature every song from the album, as well as several songs from Green Day’s forthcoming release, 21th Century Breakdown. In reference to his collaboration with Michael Mayer, Billie Joe Armstrong of GD said “”We’d been thinking of bringing American Idiot to the stage, but knew we needed to find the right partners. After meeting with Michael to discuss the possibility, we were so impressed with his vision for American Idiot, that we knew we’d found the perfect collaborator.†Tickets for the show are currently on sale, starting at $32.
