Athens, Ohio based extreme metal band Skeletonwitch has announced a North American tour to promote the release of their upcoming album The Apothic Gloom. The tour will feature appearances from Virginia punk act Iron Reagan, Belgian hardcore band Oathbreaker, as well as select shows with Homewrecker, All Hell, and Gatecreeper.
After former vocalist Chance Garnett was fired from the band for alcohol and legal issues, Adam Clemens of sludge metal act Wolvhammer was recruited to be Skeletonwitch’s new vocalist. So far, the results of this switch up have been very impressive, especially their recently released single “Red Death, White Light”. You can listen to Adam in action below:
Despite representing a relatively niche genre of metal (which itself is rife with numerous sub-genres) Skeletonwitch has enjoyed occasional mainstream attention. Their third studio album Breathing the Fire debuted at number 151 on the Billboard 200 charts, and was met with positive reception from music critics and fans. In addition, Skeletonwitch’s music has popped up in various video game franchises, including Rock Band and the metal-themed action adventure RTS Brütal Legend.
