This Spring, feminist Pop-punk quartet Tacocat released their latest record, Lost Time. With music about that strange horse girl in your high school, the vitriolic comment sections of the internet, and a tribute to The X-Files‘s Special Agent Dana Scully, Lost Time easily holds up the band’s reputation of playing music as fun as the band’s name.
The fun will continue throughout the rest of 2016. The Seattle-based group has announced dates for an upcoming U.S. tour this fall, in continued support of Lost Time. The group will kick things off in their home state September 20, before trekking the country throughout the following 4 weeks. More date are expected to be announced. The tour will not be Tacocat’s first of the year – the group will be embarking on a West Coast tour in July and the first half of August, making stops in Washington, Oregon, California, Colorado, and Utah.
The band is celebrating the recent warm weather with their latest musical release – a cover of The Sunray’s 1965 “I Live For the Sun,” which can be streamed below. Tacocat gives the 1960’s surf-rock track the indie-punk treatment, successfully bringing the dated song into 2016. Stream the tune below.
Tacocat is a four member band consisting of Emily Nokes, Bree McKenna, Lelah Maupin, and Eric Randall. The band has steadily rising in popularity since breaking after releasing their sophomore album NVM in 2014 to critical acclaim. Despite a sound reminiscent of the laid-back 1960’s surf-rock scene, Tacocat’s songs sardonically explore deeper themes of feminism and racial politics.
