While Hatsune Miku has made the late-night rounds and stopovers at US Expo’s, the Japanese holographic sensation has never rolled out a full-fledged US tour. Until now, that is. Miku already announced appearances across North America this spring in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Toronto and New York. The tour has been extended to include Chicago, Houston and Monterrey, Mexico. Two shows have been added to Mexico City after the first two sold out. Anamanaguchi has also been confirmed as the opening act. Check out the full schedule with locations below.
To compliment the concerts, a series of fan events focused on Miku are being planned. The events will explore the sensation’s history through short films from across the globe, a Barnes & Noble drawing workshop that will facilitate the development of a fan-made collaborative music video, and a club event pre-party on the evenings leading up to the Miku Expo shows in some of the cities.
Miku’s shows will feature a singing and dancing Miku projected onto the stage while a live bands supports with animation. Setlists change from show to show, as songs are selected from the thousands that are created by artists and fans across the globe.
Miku was created as an avatar for a software program designed for users to create music using a synthesized voice. Her image and voice was used as a vehicle for musicians and producers to give birth to their musical idea. Thousands of songs, illustrations, and videos have been creating under many difference genres and styles.
