Swedish melodic death metal band Amon Amarth have released their new song “At Dawn’s First Light” and the video for it. It was directed by Rafal Szermanowkicz from Grupa 13 and directed by Darek Szermanowicz from BEHEMOTH. The video depicts an epic battle scene in a Slavic settlement from the 9th-10th century. The band is stuck right in the middle of the bloody and violent fight. It even features an appearance by the Triglav Jomsborg East Storm, the modern Viking warriors, who are led by director Igor Gorewicz.
“At Dawn’s First Light” comes off the Jomsviking, Amon Amarth’s tenth studio album. The album will be released on March 25th and is the band’s first concept album. It focuses on the themes of love and revenge, set in the world of the Jomsvikings – the legendary order of mercenary Vikings.
Beginning April 7th, Amon Amarth will be going on tour across North America until May 21st, bringing along bands Entombed A.D. and Exmortus. The tour will be used to promote their upcoming album Jomsviking. Back in January, the band released their first single off the album, “First Kill”, along with a video for it, which was filmed in Germany and Poland.
Amon Amarth’s last work was Deceiver of the Gods, their ninth studio album that was released in 2013. It was the band’s last album with longtime drummer Fredrik Andersson before he left the band in March of 2015. Andersson had played drums for the band for 17 years. Jomsviking will be the band’s first album without him.
