I’ve never seen Alabama Shakes live because I’m ignorant. Don’t be like me. I’ll never forget the time the band played Outside Lands and my friends who saw Alabama Shakes would not stop talking about the performance for months. And the funny thing is, my friends weren’t the biggest Alabama Shakes fans either.
Enough about my life. Let’s talk about the blues rock greats, Alabama Shakes. Like their name implies, the band is from Athens, Alabama and is probably the best thing to come out of Alabama since the birth of Rosa Parks. I might sound a little crazy, but once you hear what the Alabama Shakes have to offer you might side with me. This group brought home three Grammy Awards for Best Alternative Album, Best Rock Performance, and Best Rock Song. Not bad for only releasing their second album in April of last year. These rockers beat Tame Impala for their critically acclaimed album Currents and also received a nomination for Album of the Year. Their album Sound & Color earned flying colors in critical reception. The Telegraph gave the album a 5/5, NME gave it an 8/10, and Pop Matters gave it a 9/10.
Be on the lookout for the second show announcement of Alabama Shakes. Hopefully, by popular demand, a second show will be added. The concert, not surprisingly, is already sold out. With all the Grammy attention and online praise for Alabama Shakes’ Sound & Color, it’s no shock. Check out the Facebook group for the event, check StubHub, eBay, and ask friends for tickets to Alabama Shakes. Don’t be like me and miss out on one of the best concerts all your friends are talking about.
