The lineup for the WayHome Music & Arts Festival has been announced, and the headliners are sure to be a hit. Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem, and Major Lazer are just a few of the names that will be playing at the festival. WayHome will be held July 22-24 in Oro Medonte, Ontario.
Canadian indie rock band Arcade Fire will be fairly close to home at the festival, as they’re from Montreal, Quebec. They’ve been around for awhile, since 2001, with four studio albums to show for it. Their latest one, Reflektor, was named one of The 100 Best Albums of the Decade So Far by Pitchfork Media. Later on, the band released the documentary The Reflektor Tapes, which was about the band’s journey in creating their Reflektor album. Just yesterday, the band released a video for their single “Here Comes The Night” from Reflektor. The video was filmed live in Haiti and is a stripped-down version of the song. Arcade Fire is currently working on their next album, and they also plan to tour this summer throughout North America and Europe.
It’s been almost five years since their breakup and subsequent farewell concert, but LCD Soundsystem has decided to reunite to the delight of their fans. They’ve even announced that they’re working on a new album. In February of 2011, the band released a statement saying that they were breaking up, with one last concert that April performed at Madison Square Garden. The band later released the documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits in 2012 that led to a live album, The Long Goodbye, in 2014. This past December, the band released their single “Christmas Will Break Your Heart”, their first single since 2010. LCD Soundsystem has been confirmed to headline many upcoming festivals, in addition to WayHome.
Major Lazer have received a lot of attention after the release of their international hit single “Lean On”, a collaboration with DJ Snake and vocals by Danish recording artist MØ. The single came off of Major Lazer’s third studio album Peace Is the Mission, released in June of last year. The electronic music group was created by producers Diplo and Switch, but Switch left the group in 2011, later to be replaced by Jillionaire and Walshy Fire. The group has a wide variety of styles, mainly combining EDM with a bunch of different genres (reggae, house, etc). Last month, they released the video for their single “Be Together” from Peace Is the Mission. The video features pop band Wild Belle.
