PJ Harvey as just announced that she will be released a new album, The Hope Six Demolition Project.
The follow-up to 2011’s Let England Shake has just been announced by PJ Harvey and the title of the artist’s ninth studio album is The Hope Six Demolition Project. The album will be officially released through Vagrant Records on April 15. According to a press release, the new album draws from the journeys and Harvey as taken over a four year period in Kosovo, Washing D.C. and Afghanistan. She had this to say about the album, “When I’m writing a song I visualize the entire scene. I can see the colours, I can tell the time of day, I can sense the mood, I can see the light changing, the shadows moving, everything in that picture. Gathering information from secondary sources felt too far removed for what I was trying to write about. I wanted to smell the air, feel the soil and meet the people of the countries I was fascinated with.” A full track list can be found below.
The album was recorded last year in residency at London’s Somerset House and was actually observed through a one way glass to the public. The exhibition was titled “Recording in Process” and included Harvey, her band, the producers Flood and John Parish and all of the engineers working in the studio. The entire show was put on as part of the London museum last year and was a highly visited attraction.
PJ Harvey will be playing select festivals across Europe this summer with her new 9-piece band. The dates for these shows can also be found below.
