Setting the wheels in motion in support of her magnificent new record, Divers, psych-folk crooner, Joanna Newsom lays the groundwork for her first North American tour in over four-years.
Armed to kick things off amicably in Boston’s own: Orpheum Theatre this coming Sunday, Newsom seeks to make quite a splash with her stellar new material fresh on the heels of her trek through Europe. Released just over a month ago, Joanna‘s new record has issued the likes of: a majestic new video of the same-name, a performance on “Later… with Jools Holland,” and even a harp lesson for the one and only, Larry King. Larry King’s harp-demonstration will air Dec. 14th, including an extensive interview with Newsom on King’s show: “Larry King Now.”
The new tour will feature consummate players: Ryan Francesconi on guitar, tambura, banjo, etc.; Mirabai Peart on violin, keyboards, and vocals; and Pete Newsom on drums and keyboards, accompanying Joanna’s own talented harp, piano, and vocal-stylings amidst an ethereal live experience.
The New York Times praises Newsom’s latest effort:
“this rather brilliant record is heaving you into the deep end. You might as well go headfirst.”
