Banksy, the graffiti artist who created a dystopian Disneyland, Dismaland, recently had the feminist band Pussy Riot play at the local theme park. While you are enjoying your fried fish fin as one of the park’s prizes, Pussy Riot was recording a video for their single “Refugees In” and also many people who came to the park, heard the band sing the song “Fuck The Police” in the recording for their song “Refugees In.”
“ISIS will win if Europe rejects the value of multi-culturalism and is terrified by the threats of extreme-right politicians. When Europe closes its borders, it will tumble back to the previous century; the era of nationalism,” said Pussy Riot in a press release. The single is in part to the crisis following the attack in Paris and the millions of refugees that have fled from Syria. ISIS has been in control of the region, tacking major cities in Syria and fighting against Russian bombing and airstrikes. In total 750,000 refugees have arrived in Europe, a high percentage of those refugees are families with small children and even young adolescent girls and boys, that have been taken into places such as Germany, Paris, and other European countries to shelter. But now the problem is that there are too many people who are coming to Europe, the EU is started to close off the boarders to their countries, and there are more Syrian refugees that are trying to find a way out.
Pussy Riot is recording music that follows their ideas and their opinions on political surges such as nationalism and right-wing conservatism. The band has recently started a NGO to help refugees in Calais, the Refugee Response Foundation, co-founded with London-based art-group The Connor Brothers.
