Adele is back, and her fans are thanking their lucky stars for her latest power ballad titled “Hello.” Last week, Adele teased the new song during a commercial break for The X Factor UK, and sent viewers into a frenzy of excitement about her up and coming album, 25. She simultaneously released “Hello” and its video less than a week after the announcement. It’s been almost five years since Adele’s last album, and if “Hello” is any indication of what’s to come from 25, fans will not be disappointed.
The music video, directed by Xavier Dolan, has racked up over 1 million views per hour since its release. Set on a farm in Quebec, it shows Adele getting nostalgic over a failed relationship. According to Dolan, the flashbacks are meant to encapsulate all of the emotions that the singer went through from the beginning to the end of her tumultuous relationship. The sepia-toned theme mimics the somber tones of the song perfectly, and allows the viewer to focus more on the story than the setting.
According to Adele, 25 will most likely be the last age-based album she puts out. The singer claims that, while her previous album 21 was a breakup album, 25 is all about the makeups. In a recent Facebook post, she writes:
I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did. But I haven’t got time to hold on to the crumbs of my past like I used to. What’s done is done.
Fans can expect the album to be released on iTunes on November 20th. In the meantime, have a look at the video for “Hello” below.
