Marcus Marr and Chet Faker team up to release Faker’s forthcoming EP Work. Marr’s funky, dance beats and Faker’s soulful vocals combine to make the single, “Trouble With Us” – released on October 14, 2015.
Marr, a British DJ, and Faker, a Brooklyn-based, Australian producer, worked together over a four-day recording session in Marr’s South London studio earlier this year. The duo wrote and produced four songs, that will now appear on Chet Faker’s new EP Work. The EP will be released on December 4, 2015 through Faker’s own label Detail Records/Downtown Records.
Over the last few years, Marr has been releasing records through DFA Records including “Brown Sauce,” and “The Music”. “The Music,” was named one of the “Best Dance Tracks of 2013” by SPIN. Faker writes, performs and records all of his own music, combining emotion with funk giving it a warm, familiar and intimate feel. Faker’s critically acclaimed album Built On Glass was released in the spring of 2014. He has performed countless sold out shows including three nights at New York’s Terminal 5 and performances at Coachella, FYF Fest, Lollapalooza, Primavera, Pemberton and Glastonbury.
A magical duo like this one can only be conceived through one entity, Twitter. Marr said, “Nick posted my song on Twitter. I messaged him and said thanks and a conversation started – all nerdy stuff about recording processes. Pretty soon we started exchanging song ideas in voice memos. He then suggested maybe we try and do something together.”
