Puscifer has released their title track to their upcoming third studio album, Money Shot, set to release on October 30th of this year.
The track can be streamed below.
The Arizona based band, formed by Maynard James Keenan in 1995, has undergone several lineup changes since their debut appearance on “Mr Show.” Puscifer has always been known as Keenan’s side project from his other highly successful bands, Tool and A Perfect Circle. With him being the only member that has stayed since the beginning there is a long list of contributing artists on this new record. According to Rollingstone.com, these musicians include Carina Round, Matt McJunkins, Juliette Commagere (keyboardist), Devo Keenan (Maynard’s son) on cello, and drummers Tim Alexander (Primus), Jon Theodore (Queens of the Stone Age) and Jeff Friedl (A Perfect Circle).
The title track is a clear indicator that Puscifer has kept some of its old raunchy comedy that has defined them in the past. After their release of the “Grand Canyon” video, there was an idea of a deeper direction but this title track disproves that. With the repetitive chant of “here come the money shot,” we are reminded of just what makes them Puscifer. Still keeping the darker melodic theme that the album will seemingly have throughout.
The release of the album’s title track is in celebration to their upcoming U.S. Tour this year. The tour is set to start on November 1st at the Monster Mash festival in Pheonix. According to Blabbermouth.net Keenan was quoted saying this about the upcoming shows…
“As is the Modus Operandi of Puscifer, there will be a whole new show to accompany the ‘Money Shot’ release. We’ve been leaving a few clues here and there as to what it may entail,” said Maynard James Keenan. “As usual, we prefer to Show rather than Tell. Odds are if you’ve been a fan of the diverse nature of our performances in the past, you’ll want to go ahead and place those bets.”
