Now, Qello has made the Jane’s Addiction: Live Voodoo concert film available for streaming.

Live Voodoo was filmed on Halloween night in 2009, at that year’s Voodoo Experience in New Orleans, Louisiana. It featured the original Jane’s Addiction lineup – guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, drummer Stephen Perkins, and the band’s ever mysterious frontman Perry Farrell – not only reuniting, but proving that they still have the ability to conjure that ferocious hard rock flair, which catapulted them to fame in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

In Live Voodoo, the band performed fan favorites and staples, which largely came from material that they had released on their first two studio albums: Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual de lo Habitual, but they did included several songs from their self-titled live album, as well.

Onstage at the Voodoo Experience, the band rolled out the fact that they can still rock very hard, as evidenced in Navarro’s gritty, driving guitar riffs and solos that are supported by an extremely tight rhythm section. And, while it appeared that Perry may have lost a little bit of his range, which happens to many vocalists over time, he remains an entertaining and unique front man that still provides a focal point for the audience.

Apart from the flair of the band members, themselves, Jane’s Addiction in Live Voodoo was joined onstage by dancers on “Nothing’s Shocking,” and Halloween-costumed revelers during “Jane Says,” which both serve to enhance the spectacle and enjoyment of the evening.

Lastly, from a visual standpoint, Live Voodoo utilized a lot of fly overs from the back of the audience up to the stage, which brought a certain level of closeness to viewers, as Voodoo Experience is a festival-style event. But, this fly over technique was additionally useful at showing viewers at home, just how large of a crowd Jane’s Addiction could still attract to one of their rare reunion concerts.
