Swedish hardcore-punkers, Refused tackle the West-Coast with a new string-of-dates to follow-up an entire summer-season of touring the globe. The tour will showcase the bands’ finely-crafted new release, Freedom, courtesy of Epitaph.
Having remained almost entirely inactive since their split in 1998 after the release of their genre-thrashing climax, The Shape of Punk to Come, Refused are at it again with what is now-known as their 2nd-reunion.
The 1st-reunion saw an endearing Coachella performance and round of club-show dates in 2012. Fellow Swede and filmmaker, Balsam Hellstorm directed, produced and edited a full-length feature film of the band performing in front of a 3,000-plus live-audience at Annexet in Stockholm during one of the last stops of the tour on December 8, 2012.
Although the departure of long-time guitarist, Jon Brannstrom late last year might have caused slight hick-ups in what is otherwise deemed a promising return to form, Refused haven’t lost their edge as revealed through new cuts: “Elektra,” “Dawkins Christ,” and “Francafrique.”
Now that they’re: “Going West Young Man!” Refused will launch their latest assault of electrifying propulsion in Pomona, CA on November 23 at the Fox Theater and continue-on through the week until they come to a complete-stop at Seattle’s own: Showbox SoDo, November 28.
Tickets will be made available this Friday, August 28 at 10a.m. pst.
