The revolutionary proto-punk band, Death will be embarking on a tour once again. Death will be traveling across the Lone Star State and making a pit stop in Chicago on September 11th, 2015.
Since the release of their proto-punk LP, For the Whole World to See, Death has been hard at work. In the last eight years, the band has gone on a world tour, rereleased material from their archives including records Spiritual, Mental, Physical, and III, and wrote and released completely new material via N.E.W., their “explosive live show surging with energy and passion for pure rock and roll, [which] is a total force to be reckoned with and exemplifies the band’s remarkable, vigorous quest for longevity in Death.”
Death is made up of Hackney brothers Bobby (bass & vocals), David (guitar), and Dannis (drums). The trio started their career as a funk band but moved into rock after seeing The Who live in concert. Peter Margasak, renown music critic said that David “pushed the group in a hard-rock direction that presaged punk, and while this certainly didn’t help them find a following in the mid-70s, today it makes them look like visionaries.” The band split in 1977 but reformed in 2009 after Drag City record label released their 70s demos. Death can easily be considered as one of the world’s first punk bands.
