Ty Segall, The Melvins’ Dale Crover and OFF!’s Steven McDonald have formed a supergroup called Broken Bat.
This is the eighth band that Segall has been a part of, according to Consequence of Sound, with others including the Ty Segall Band and Epsilons.
The new band has already posted a clip of a track called “Take My Medicine” on Bandcamp, which they have labeled as a “Just a taste edit.” The cut includes fuzzy guitars and intense, rhythmic percussion, along with screaming vocals, in its 53-second run. Ty Segall released his EP Mr. Face in January 2015, which included a pair of playable 3-D glasses. In April and May he had a short solo acoustic tour with shows in Los Angeles and New York City, and will be performing at Pickathon 2015 this summer.
Dale Crover put out his own solo 7″ record, United Fruit, in summer 2014. Broken Bat isn’t Crover’s first connection to OFF! either – he acted as drummer for the band when they went on tour in 2014.
