Danish progressive rock band Mew have released a new single, “Witness,” from their upcoming album.
Mew was formed in 1994 by vocalist Jonas Bjerre, guitarist Bo Madsen, bassist Johan Wohlert and drummer Silas Utke Graae Jørgensen. Though Wohlert left the band in 2006 due to the birth of his first child, he returned in 2013 to record with the group. They made several appearances at Austin’s SXSW Festival in 2015, playing at different venues and parties throughout the week.
Mew’s latest album will be released on April 28 and is titled +/-, pronounced “plus, minus.” Earlier in 2015, they released a video for their first single from the album, “Satellites,” which sparked excitement about the new record. Mew released a video for the next track, “Water Slides,” on April Fool’s Day but, fortunately for fans, it was not a prank.
“Witness” will keep excitement up for the upcoming album release date. The track features the group’s signature vocals overlaid on heavy guitar and drum parts. It’s an upbeat, noisy song that seems to be a perfect fit for spring and summer. Listen to the third single from +/- below.
