St. Vincent has released a new single titled “Teenage Talk”. The single dropped during an episode of HBO’s Girls that aired March 9.
According to Prettymuchamazing.com, “Teenage Talk” is a demo from St. Vincent’s self-titled fourth studio album. Fans of St. Vincent can be thankful she and Girls actress Lena Dunham are such good friends or this track may have never been unearthed.
In an interview with Billboard, Manish Raval, Girls music supervisor, explained how the show got a hold of the demo “I said to St. Vincent’s people, ‘We love Annie and she and Lena are friends. Is there anything laying around?’” said Raval. “They sent us a demo of a song called ‘Teenage Talk’ that she hadn’t released yet and it was amazing. Lena flipped for it.”
Although the demo is brief, it leaves a powerful punch of the talent we all expect to hear from St. Vincent. As the song closed out this week’s episode, it began with defined sounds techno sound. A few seconds in, the full sound evolves as St. Vincent’s lyrics make through provoking statements, a perfect way to end an episode.
St. Vincent’s talents have not gone unnoticed. The singer recently won the 2015 Grammy award for Best Alternative Album. Additionally, St. Vincent has a few performances scheduled for the summer including the WayHome Music and Arts Festival and the Free Press Summer Fest.
