Eskmo, who’s real name is Brendan Angelides, has released an impressive stop-motion video for his latest single, “Mind of War”.
The video was directed by Dillon Markey, the animator behind Robot Chicken. To put this artistic piece together, Markey simply relied on a modified Nintendo Power Glove and the rest was improvised, even using some of the audience in attendance during the shoot at MAMA Gallery in Los Angeles, California. 14 hours and 4,606 photos later, “Mind of War” was created. “Mind of War” is featured on Eskmo’s latest album SOL which was released March 3rd.
Our review for the album can be found here.
The Power Glove used to create the video has actually become a signature for director Dillon Markey, as he uses this ex-gaming device to animate multiple films, and shows. You can preview the process on how Markey modified this device on Vimeo.
The song and video is very reminiscent of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer“. The video primarily focuses on Eskmo. The most impressive part of the video is how Markey was able to capture the motions of Eskmo’s hands and fingers, especially during the different lighting effects, specifically at the :37 mark.
“Mind of War” is the first track from his new album to receive a video.
