J. Cole is an American hip hop recording artist, songwriter, and record producer from Fayetteville, North Carolina. Cole first received recognition in 2007 following the release of his debut mixtape, The Come Up. Shortly after the release, he was contacted by Jay-Z and signed to his record label Roc Nation.
Cole has recently announced his 2015 Forest Hills Drive Tour featuring Big Sean, YG, and Jeremih. Along the tour, Cole will also be joined by Dreamville artists Bas, Cozz and Omen. The tour is stopping to play the Austin360 Amphitheater at the Circuit of The Americas August 22!
Cole’s most most recent album, Forest Hills Drive, was released last year and debuted at number one on the Billboard Top 200 Albums. Forest Hills Drive became the highest selling hip hop album of the year, and went on to receive highly critical acclaims from NPR, Complex, The Los Angeles Times, and others. The album was titled after the address of his actual childhood home in North Carolina. It serves as a meditation on the value of love relative to worldly success, and shows where his career in rap sparked from.
