Manhattan’s Gypsy punk band have announced a tour this summer.
Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello, fronted by Eugene Hütz, have announced a tour this summer with Irish punk band Flogging Molly. Gogol Bordello’s most recent album, Pura Vida Conspiracy, was released in 2013 and was released on ATO Records.
Draped in Gogol Bordello’s trademark gypsy-punk sound, the LP pushes hard at the boundaries of the band’s already abundant blend of Eastern European and Celtic folk, rock ‘n’ roll, and reggae traditions.
Charleston City Paper said of the album,
“Draped in Gogol Bordello’s trademark gypsy-punk sound, the LP pushes hard at the boundaries of the band’s already abundant blend of Eastern European and Celtic folk, rock ‘n’ roll, and reggae traditions.”
Famous for blending music and musicians from all parts of the world, Hütz told Charleston City Paper,
“We do it without even thinking about it. The people in the band are from different parts of the world. It’s not like [Gobena] thinks, ‘Oh, I need to have an Asian bassline here.’ No, he just plays whatever fits.”
