Synthpop band Hot Chip has announced that each physical copy of their new album, Why Make Sense?, will have different artwork.
The move is somewhat of a reward for fans who opt to buy a CD or vinyl copy of the upcoming album, according to Paste Magazine. Why Make Sense? will be released May 18 in Europe and May 19 in the United States.
The website for Domino Records says the artwork is being made using a “unique and bespoke printing technique.” The technique will create a 501 different colors and subtle variations on the design, which ensures that each album’s cover will have its own design.
Hot Chip first teased the new album less than a month ago with a five-second animated clip with the words “Why Make Sense” underlined. Their last album was 2012’s In Our Heads, but they covered “Go Bang” as part of a tribute to the late Arthur Russell, also known as Dinosar L, in 2014.
