The British post-punk band have released their first single after a 35-year haitus.
According to Brooklyn Vegan, British post-punk band The Pop Group have released a new song, “Mad Truth,” off their latest album Citzen Zombie, which was produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, Coldplay, Bruno Mars), and is out February 23rd.
The Pop Group recently reunited in 2010 after thirty-five years apart, announcing a reunion tour and a new album called The Alternate, although the album never materialized. In 2014, the band released a reissue of their 1980 album We Are Time, and the band also released a compilation of rarities called Cabinet of Curiosities.
Back with fresh material, The Pop Group continues to make relevant funky punk music, and gave their reason for reuniting in a press statement:
“There was a lot left undone…we were so young and volatile…Let’s face it, things are probably even MORE fucked now than they were in the early 80’s….and we are even more fucked off!”
The Pop Group’s latest album is out February 23rd, and you can catch the band on their North American 2015 tour. Also, you can stream their latest single, “Mad Truth,” below.
