Earlier this week, Union Transfer made an exciting show announcement. Future Islands will be headed to UT this January to help kick off the 2015 concert season. Their previous show at The Church sold out very early, so having them at Union Transfer is a welcome treat for all of their fans. And that fan base is certainly growing so DO NOT miss your chance to grab tickets when they go on sale tomorrow (10/17) morning at 10am.
Future Islands will hit the stage on January 10th. They’ll be joined by Operators and Wing Dam. Future Islands wowed the crowd back in April when they played at First Unitarian Church. The band released their fourth album, Singles, in March of this year. The album has since found its way onto many Best Of lists. With the huge success of their most recent album, it’s not surprise that the guys continue to sell out their shows as they travel across the US. And this upcoming show at UT is sure to be no different.
Future Islands currenly hails from Baltimore, Maryland. But the synthpop band formed in North Carolina back in 2006. Their first release was Little Advances in April of that year. By 2008, they had relocated to Baltimore. A few releases followed. But early this year they signed to 4AD and released Singles, their biggest hit to date. They made their network television debut in March when they appeared on Letterman to perform their hit single, “Seasons (Waiting on You).”
