The Vaselines just released their first music video of a song that is on their up and coming album V For Vaselines set to be released in the U.S. on October 7.
The alternative rock band from Scotland was originally founded in 1986 by Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee and last produced an album in 2010. The group has been getting fans excited for their new album by releasing an acoustic video for the new song “One Lost Year” and now this video for the new song “High Tide Low Tide.”
The new music video captures the high-spirit and excitement of the song’s tune in most scenes. Kelly and McKee run around beautiful parks near the water and this scenery goes along well with the lyrics and the title. The scenes that work with the song and are enjoyable to watch feature Kelly and McKee shooting water guns at one another, flying kites, playing frisbees, riding around on scooters, and being generally silly and playful with each other. In between these scenes, the video cuts to the pair holding umbrellas against a rainy sky, where they stand around mostly looking serious. Their stares at the camera during these scenes create a sort of awkwardness, even when they are playing instruments.
