If you weren’t sure of the existence of other life forms in this universe, Broken Bells have put together a conspiracy theorist, high school science teacher’s projected presentation to prove they exist.
From performing on a throwback 60’s television set, and dressed in Ed Sullivan suits, to grainy footage of moon landings, crop circles, and psychedelic silhouettes over a background of space, “Control” shows you proof that the spikey spherical aliens are coming, and have been here for a while.
Super imposing these spheres with great precision into footage from many different decades including shots of 80’s testimonials, 50’s black and white pictures, circling them in red, in shot’s from the 70’s, and sometimes appearing to be on actual film celluloid.
Every detail from the top secret footage to men walking with Geiger counters, the theme of the video matches the song well which tells us, “It’s useless to hold on so tight/you got to give it up/ give it up…You lost control,” accompanied by an old school horn section.
The indie rock band from Los Angeles, is made up of Danger Mouse and the lead singer/guitarist for The Shins, James Mercer. “Control” is the fourth single of the album After the Disco, the follow up to their debut album Broken Bells in 2010.
