Yes, you read that right. This month, you can catch RJD2 for just $3. The only thing you have to do is RSVP. And we’d recommend you do that quickly, as spots will definitely fill up for this one.
This month’s iteration of the The Red Bull Sound Select Party has been curated by JUMP Philly and they have a great night planned. The night will be headlined by Philly’s own RJD2 and also feature performances from Sugar Tongue Slim and Marian Hill. They’ve also got a special guest DJ who will keep the party going as well as a few surprise appearances lined up throughout the night, so this is one Sound Select you definitely do not want to miss. You’ll want to hurry up and RSVP here before this show sells out. Then head to Underground Arts at 8pm on September 27th. And remember, as with all of the Sound Select shows, RSVP does not guarantee entry. So you should probably plan to arrive early.
RJD2 is probably best known for his track “A Beautiful Mine” which is the theme song for Mad Men. In 2013, he released More Is Than Isn’t, his fifth full-length studio album. The album features appearances from Phone, Aaron Livingston, and Philly’s Khari Mateen. Marian Hill is an electronic duo, also out of Philly. They are comprised of Jeremy Lloyd (production) and Samantha Gongol (vocals), with Steve Davit providing the bass and sax for their live shows. They recently performed at North Star Bar, as well as XPoNential Festival. They have a new EP in the works, so hopefully we’ll get to hear some music from that on September 27th. And finally, rounding out the bill is Sugar Tongue Slim, a local rapper originally from Atlanta, who prides himself on his writing. He’s received the stamp of approval from several notable rappers, including Philly hero Black Thought, even appearing on The Roots’ How I Got Over. Catch all of them this September at Underground Arts.
