Snakehips is comprised of James Carter and Oliver Lee, two rather low profile producers from London, UK who happen to be in San Francisco this October for their North American tour. They have collaborated with vocalists Sinead Harnett (who also collaborated with Disclosure on their track Boiling as well as Rudimental’s track Baby), and Australian George Maple. These soulful sultry vocalists paired with the Dilla and Madlib- hip hop reminiscent beats puts Snakehips on the R&B side of the EDM scale; some of Snakehips’ tracks almost have an early-mid 90’s R&B vibe (if you could blend some of those songs with 90’s gameboy 8-bit sound effects). They have moreover released popular remixes such as Banks’ Warm Water, Bondax’s track Gold, Wild Belle’s track It’s Too Late, and The Weeknd’s Wanderlust. There is so much buzz on Snakehips right now in both Europe and North America- put on your dancing shoes, Snakehips will get you moving and grooving. Snakehips is currently signed to their own label Hoffman West, named after a fictional character Oliver made up to sneak into clubs- these guys are just way too cool for their own good.
STWO is a Parisian producer signed to HW&W records, who has gained notoriety for his tracks Lovin’ You, Syrup, and Moans. He has a similar style to Snakehips in that he blends R&B, hip hop, and electronic genres, but his tracks and remixes tend to be slightly more garage-bass-heavy than Snakehips’. Watch out for Stwo’s slow jams, they’re jaw-dropping!
If you want to dance, this is your night. What a wicked lineup!
