With a multicolored foam geyser and a short instrumental to accompany their press release, the Brooklyn, New York indie rock band TV on the Radio announced their upcoming album, Seeds.
Due out in Fall, lead vocalist Tunde Adebimpe says:
We’ve been through a lot of stuff in the past few years that could have stopped the band cold, but I’m glad we got it together and took stock of the unique connection we have between each other because the record is, 1000%, without a doubt, the best thing we’ve ever done.”
The band released two tracks in September, “Mercy” and “Million Miles,” through guitarist David Sitek’s Federal Prism label, and debuted 3 new songs on May 30th at the BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley. NPR described “Mercy” and “Million Miles” as “lush and dreamy”.
Rolling Stone described their last album, Nine Types of Light, as being “pure heaven”, which earned the band a Grammy Nomination. Other albums such as Dear Science, Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes and Return To Cookie Mountain were critically acclaimed and fan favorites, earning them #1 spots by Pitchfork, the Village Voice, and Spin’s Album of the Year.
Seeds was recorded by guitarist David Andrew Sitek, who is also known for his production, and recently released a solo track entitled “God Damn Beauty”, which he also produced through his label Federal Prism.
With recent shows at the Pemberton Music Festival, and the Governor’s Ball Music Festival, TV on the Radio is scheduled to continue touring such festivals as the upcoming Riot Fest Denver, Treasure Island Music Festival and the Life Is Beautiful Music Festival.
