Austin psychedelic rockers The Black Angels have made a new video release for ‘The Flop’ song from their latest EP ‘Clear Lake Forest’.
Not much happening in the clip – band performing in the green tones and virtual women dancing at the background of red. Mix it with hypnotic visualizations and crisp guitar riffs – gives a nice impression and sets a good mood. The video itself makes a good couple to a lively song melody, with organ introduction and viscous, but not dull vocals of Alex Maas.
Outfit’s July release ‘Clear Lake Forest’, given 8\10 by NME and 8.5\10 by Paste Magazine, gives us a pleasant journey into not-so-distant music’s past, with Velvet Underground’s trance dive, Doors’ kindling a soul fire, and even something of early Franz Ferdinand, like visual images and well-distinctive groove.
‘Clear Lake Forest’ tracklist:
01. Sunday Evening
02. Tired Eyes
03. Diamond Eyes
04. The Flop
05. An Occurrence at 4507 South Third Street
06. The Executioner
07. Linda’s Gone
Undoubtedly, those Texas psychedelics are worth giving a shot, at least because, as they say in NME, ‘The Black Angels’ psych scholarship pays dividends here’.
