Marketa Irglova is gearing up to go on tour. Busy days for the Czech singer/songwriter, as she’s also got an album in the works.
A solid chunk of readers are probably now taking the time to google Marketa Irglova and figure out exactly who we’re talking about here. For the rest of you lazy, lazy non googlers, here – check this out.
Ring any bells? That’s Irglova singing alongside Glen Hansard, one of Ireland’s most beloved musical sons. That particular song, “Falling Slowly”, actually netted the two an Academy Award for Best Original Song. Not too shabby. They’re longtime collaborators to boot, and together formed the now defunct indie rock outfit Swell Season.
While she’s most recognizable when paired with Hansard, Irglova is a formidable solo artist in her own right. Her upcoming campaign takes her across the US with occasional forays into Canada, then sends her across the pond for a string of European dates. Joining her are Frames veterans Joe Doyle and Rob Bochnik. Israeli songstress Rosi Golan will also be touring in support for the North American tour.
