NYC’s Small Black are headed to Johnny Brenda’s this summer along with fellow New Yorkers Snowmine. Providing support for the show will be Son Little. Head over to JB’s on June 13th for a night of great music!

Small Black released their debut EP back in 2009, a collection songs that would easily be described as chillwave. Since their 2013 release Limits of Desire, they’ve been said to be developing a more approachable live sound. Real People, their newest EP, dropped this April and aims to do just that. They recorded the EP quickly using the “first thought, best thought” mentality. They’ve been steadily touring this year in support of their new music.

Joining Small Black in June are their friends Snowmine. They recently departed from the traditional label structure and created their own label by starting a crowdfunding venture. The album, Dialects, was released in February of this year and features what has been described as a “vintage 60’s sound.” The band’s lead singer, Grayson Sanders, says of the new album, “The overall tone of the lyrics and the music really arose out of a communication breakdown between myself and the outside world. So it kind of has a melancholy tint.”

If all of that isn’t enough to convince you to head to Johnny Brenda’s, early birds will also be treated to what is sure to be a stellar performance from Son Little (aka Aaron Livingston). His music was described by Vice Magazine as blending “the hard-hitting bars of a veteran hip hop star juxtaposed with folky, blues on a great day.” Be sure to check out his video for single “Your Love Will Blow Me Away When My Heart Aches.”
