Hardcore innovators Turnstile take their massive tour for their latest album on the road again for THE NEVER ENOUGH TOUR PT. 2, with support from a wide-range of other big names from their Baltimore hardcore contemporaries Angel Du$t to the genre-blending bassist Thundercat. They’ll be stopping in NYC on September 23rd for a show at Forest Hills Stadium with support from Clipse and julie.
Turnstile, formed in Baltimore, Maryland in 2010, consists of singer Brendan Yates (drummer of Trapped Under Ice), drummer Daniel Fang (formerly of Angel Du$t), bassist Franz Lyons, and guitarists Pat McCrory (formerly of Angel Du$t) and Meg Mills. The band quickly became an integral member of the Baltimore hardcore scene with their first two albums, Nonstop Feeling (2016) and Time & Space (2018), on which they experimented with genre, mixing elements of grunge, metal, rap, and jazz, into their primarily hardcore sound. If Turnstile was pushing the boundaries of hardcore previously, they blew them open with 2021’s GLOW ON, on which the band incorporated drum machines, synths, latin grooves, and much more, all without sacrificing the mosh-inducing power and raw emotion that drives their music. The album launched them to mainstream recognition debuting at number 30 on the Billboard Hot 200 list and number eight on Rolling Stone’s Top 50 Albums of 2021, along with three Grammy nominations. Frontman Brandon Yates explained that, “we just love venturing into uncharted territory because I think it’s what keeps things feeling alive,” something which they continued to do with wild success on their 2025 follow up, NEVER ENOUGH.
The album which features the band’s most ambitious moments yet like the synth-laden ocean soundscapes on “MAGIC MAN,” the uplifting trumpet riff on “DREAMING,” the club breakdown on “LOOK OUT FOR ME,” the disco inflections of SEEIN’ STARS, and the minute-long ambient ending to “SUNSHOWER” (complete with a flute solo) alongside the aggressive attack that is always at the core of their sound, NEVER ENOUGH feels like the culmination of where Turnstile has been heading for their entire career. The album, which was paired with an equally ambitious visual-album first released at Tribeca Film Festival, received massive support from fans and critics, taking home Grammy awards for Best Rock Album and Best Metal Performance. The band embarked on their first tour for the album in the fall of last year during which they headlined shows at massive venues on some of the biggest stages they had ever performed. The tour featured all the high-energy moshing that has come to define Turnstile’s concerts mixed with the highly cinematic visual language of the album’s companion film. Shows often began with Yates singing the beautifully anthemic title track in tear-bringing unison with the audience before the band launched into GLOW ON’s “T.L.C. (TURNSTILE LOVE CONNECTION),” causing the crowd (who had likely been expecting to hear the second song on the new album, “SOLE”) to rush forward into a spirited mosh. THE NEVER ENOUGH TOUR, proved the band was able to soar to new heights while still remaining true to the hardcore scene from which they emerged.
