Sage Francis’ new album, Copper Gone is set for release on June 3, 2014. With this album and a tour in the works, this bring great news to many fans.
The project’s overall mission statement: “When it seems like you’re going through hell…keep going” can be seen as a template for Sage Francis’ life since his apparent sudden retirement in 2010 after the “Life on the Road” world excursion.
This move caused lots of confusion for fans who thought Francis was giving up music for good. However, it was later discovered that Francis needed a break from the hectic routine of touring to handle some personal matters. Francis commented on fans concerns saying, “It sort of offends my sensibilities to hear that some people thought I gave up music. I’ve been writing songs since I was 8 years old. Performing on stage since 12. Winning over crowds and losing partners in the process. As far as creative energy goes, my entire adult life and the bulk of my childhood has been dedicated to this craft. I don’t even think I could stop that train if I wanted to.” During the break from touring, Francis still managed Strange Famous Records and continued to write music.
A soundcloud of the song “Vonnegut Busy” can be found below. More information about the album release and tour dates can be found at Strange Famous Records.
