Tenacious D. You know them for emotional classics like “Wonderboy” and “Tribute.” Jack Black and Kyle Glass have stricken the music world again with a cover of Ronnie James Dio’s “The Last in Line” to help support the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund.
1994 was a great year partly because Tenacious D formed in Los Angeles with the epic voice of actor and comedian Jack Black and his vocalist friend Kyle Glass. The band is known for its hilarious, yet sometimes vulgar lyrics and has been called a rock opera band. However, despite the odd lyrics, the musical talent in the duo is clear. They gained their greatest success with the song “Tribute” in 2001 and were previously well known beginning in 1999 for their TV show.
An album was put together by several artists including Anthrax, Metallica and, obviously, Tenacious D. 100% of the proceeds from the album will go directly to the Cancer Fund. The Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund raises money for cancer research and education. The fund most recently held a gala and raised upwards of $90,000. They are doing great things and helping a great cause.
The charity album is called This is Your Life and it will include ten previously unreleased tracks out of 14 tracks total. Check it out and support the cause by donating or purchasing an album! Listen below.
