Thankfully the planets have aligned yet again, this time just weirdly enough to provide a supergroup sure to rock our faces off. John Frusciante has teamed with Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Teri Gender Bender and a few others to deliver us Kimono Kult, a dynamo of a group soon to be releasing a piñata of funky sounds with their upcoming EP Hiding In The Light.
Frusciante, best known for his narcotized contributions to Red Hot Chili Peppers, is set to release what Neurotic Yell Records refers to as “four songs of electro/dub/afro-beat/avant-freak/jazz-like conversations of instrumental ecstasy” with the group on March 4th. Joining him are the freely experimental Rodriguez-Lopez and Gender Bender, both who combined for the recent alt-rock project Bosnian Rainbows, the former more famous for his work with The Mars Volta, and the latter with Le Butcherettes. Also adding to the fold will be Laena Geronimo, Nicole Turley and Dante White-Aliano, diverse musicians in their own right.
The 4-track LP is now available for pre-order on Kimono Kult’s Bandcamp site.
