Melvins, a grunge and sludge metal band, was formed in 1983 by vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover. The band primarily exists as a trio but has weaved in and out of being a quartet from time to time.
Their first album, Ozma / Gluey Porch Treatments, was released in 1988 and they have continued to make music consistently throughout the years. Their most recent album, Tarantula Heart, was released just this past year.
As for Napalm Death, this English grindcore and death metal band was formed in 1981. All the original members have not been with the band since 1986. The current members include, Mark “Barney” Greenway on lead vocals, Mitch Harris on guitars, Shane Embury on bass, and Danny Hererra on drums.
Being pioneers of the grindcore genre, their first album, Scum was released in 1986, two years prior to Melvins first release. They continued making studio albums until 2014. They have most recently released a single, “The Crucifiction of Possessions, released in 2023.
Together, the two bands create a mixture of punk and grindcore that blends to create a performance unlike anything else.
