The Goo Goo Dolls & Dashboard Confessional announce their Summer Anthem Tour. They will perform at Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island in Chicago on Aug. 13. 2025. The Goo Goo Dolls are putting together their 15th studio album for this collaboration tour.
Both bands are known for their alternative rock and punk sound and are ready to bring their unique sounds together for one memorable tour.
Starting 10 years before Dashboard Confessional, Goo Goo Dolls got their start in 1986. The band members currently are John Rzeznik on vocals and guitar and Robby Takac on vocals and bass. Their first album, self-titled Goo Goo Dolls, was released in 1987. It was not until 1998 that the band had their big break with the release of their sixth studio album, Dizzy up the Girl. This album contained songs like “Iris,” which shot to the top of the Billboard 100 charts, and “Slide.”
While the Goo Goo Dolls were getting their big break, Dashboard Confessional was just beginning. The band was formed in 1999 by lead vocalist Chris Carrabba, and their first album, The Swiss Army Romance, was released the next year. The band has gone through many band members, but Carrabba has stayed true to his music with the band.
Both bands have been consistently releasing music since the years they started. The Goo Goo Dolls have released 14 studio albums, with one more on the way, and Dashboard Confessional has released nine studio albums, with their most recent being in 2022.
In the upcoming year, the two prolific alt-rock bands will come together for a series of show-stopped performances during their Summer Anthem Tour.
