Acclaimed American rock and emo band My Chemical Romance, also known as MCR, is going on tour in honor of their 2006 album, The Black Parade. They are set to perform at Soldier Field on Aug. 29, 2025, with opener Devo.
My Chemical Romance got its start in 2001 by lead vocalist Gerard Way, guitarist Ray Toro, bassist Mikey Way, and drummer Matt Pelisser. Frank Lero joined the band in 2002 as their rhythm guitarist. Jarrod Alexander, their current drummer, joined the band in 2011, and Jamie Muhoberac, on keyboards, joined in 2019.
They signed a record deal in 2001 and quickly released their first album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, in 2002. They gained attention immediately and consistently released album after album until 2016.
Their most popular album, The Black Parade(2006), is an experimental rock-opera concept album that brought the band major attention with songs like “Welcome to the Black Parade,” which was at the top of the UK charts the year it was released and “Teenagers” which is still a viral sensation today.
My Chemical Romance is beloved for its hard-edge emo punk sound. With eight studio albums, 16 singles, and two EPs, they altered the idea of what hard-rock and emo music should sound like.
